A |     The makers of Kalamkaval have officially confirmed that the film will now arrive in theatres on December 5. The announcement comes after the team reviewed the final stage of post-production and decided that the film would benefit from a slightly later window. The move follows earlier communication from the production house that hinted at a stronger and more precise theatrical plan.     A new date and a clearer rollout plan     Kalamkaval features Mammootty and Vinayakan in central roles. Mammootty is believed to play a morally complex character whose motivations drive the core tension, while Vinayakan appears as a police officer whose track intersects with the unfolding drama. The pairing has already created interest, especially as both actors are known for grounded and unpredictable performances.     The film marks the directorial debut of Jithin K Jose, who previously wrote the story for Kurup. The screenplay is co-written by Jithin and Jishnu Sreekumar. With this project, Jithin steps into a more expansive creative role, shaping a thriller that leans heavily on atmosphere and shifting moral lines.     Cast, craft and tone     The supporting cast includes Jibin Gopinath, who earned attention for his recent turn in Dies Irae. The team behind the film features cinematographer Faisal Ali, editor Praveen Prabhakar, composer Mujeeb Majeed and production designer Shajie Naduvil. Their combined craftsmanship is expected to lend the film its moody palette and grounded visual identity.     Kalamkaval has received a U/A 16+ certification, signalling a tone that remains intense while still accessible to a broad audience. Early stills and teasers hinted at a narrative that draws from real world textures and psychological unease. The December 5 release is set to give the film a clearer corridor at the box office and a more cohesive buildup. The organisation celebrated his contributions to cinema and social change.          The evening was marked by a memorable moment when Livingston Mayor Ed Meinhardt and Council Member Ketan Bhuptani presented Onir with an official Township Citation. They recognised his work in promoting visibility, equality and compassion through films.At the event, Mayor Meinhardt praised Onir as "a true trailblazer whose courage and creativity have inspired audiences around the world." He added that "it is an honour for Livingston to host a visionary who reminds us that humanity shines brightest when it celebrates diversity."The event opened with remarks by Shashank Singh, founder of Indians in Livingston (IIL) and Bakstage.AI. He said, "Onir’s films have touched countless lives and his storytelling continues to bridge cultures and conversations around the world." This Award comes to Onir after being conferred the Icon Award at the International South Asian Film Festival, Canada for consistently creating cinema that "pushes boundaries, highlights underrepresented voices, and sparks dialogue around issues often left outside the mainstream."          Onir's latest release includes the movie We Are Faheem and Karun. The movie has already been screened in several film festivals, including the Dharamshala International Film Festival. During an exclusive interview with Filmfare, Onir had opened up about the response he received at several film festivals. "For me, the first international screening was at BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, which is one of the largest queer film festivals. Within the first two days, both the shows were totally sold out. It was really overwhelming.
